SPAN Parents' Association (SPA)

Mission Statement
It is the mission of this organization to encourage and to support the studies, programs, and initiatives of those students enrolled at IUPUI through SPAN. Additionally, SPA intends to aid in the growth and development of these programs. In furtherance of these goals, this organization will assist in the development of both academic and social aspects, including the SPAN-X Club, as well as raising and providing funding for scholarships, activities, and other interests within the organization. SPA will also act by recommending new students and by reaching out to organizations and individuals. We intend to involve SPAN students and alumni in an effort to provide community service as mentors to those entering the program. SPA membership is open to parents of SPAN students or alumni, or other persons interested in such a program.

SPA Scholarship Project
Purpose: 
The SPAN Parents' Association (SPA) intends to create a monetary fund to encourage and to support the students, programs, and initiatives of the SPAN program at IUPUI and the students it supports. This fund will assist in
the development of both academic and social aspects, including the SPAN-X Club, as well as providing funding for scholarships, activities, and other interests within the organization.

Toward this end, SPA will offer scholarships to provide financial assistance to SPAN students based upon either financial need or academic excellence. Not all funds raised by SPA are intended for use in the scholarship fund. Funds will also be made available for the promotion of social activities and community service events sponsored by SPAN-X and initiatives that need funding.
